Leela Sundaram

Leela Sundaram is from Sarasota Florida and is pursuing a Bachelor of Music specializing in Opera Performance at the the University of Florida. She has been playing violin since she was eight years old and was a part of the Sarasota Youth Orchestra for eight years. She has performed in the University of Florida’s chamber string ensembles. She began singing with the Sarasota Youth Opera when she was fourteen. For the three past the years she has been a part of UF Opera Theater for where she has performed in Bizet’s “Carmen”, as well as the roles “Laetitia” in Arthur Sullivan’s “The Zoo”, and will be playing the role of “Nella” in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” this spring. She also performs with UF’s chamber and concert choirs. She has worked with the Sarasota Opera as a summer intern in 2023, and attended Festival of International Opera Italia in Urbania, Italy where she performed the role La Conversa in Puccini’s “Suor Angelica”.
